DAY WISE ITINERARY
Reaching Rome in the evening. After the Immigration procedure proceed to Hotel. Check in to the hotel, freshen up. Dinner and overnight stay at Rome.
PAPAL AUDIENCE – VATICAN MUSEUM – ST. PETERS BASILICA – ROME
Post breakfast at Hotel, we will proceed for the Papal Audience at St Peter Square. After that you will have early lunch at Indian Restaurant. After lunch we will visit the Vatican Museums and a large part of the Vatican City, one of the European microstates, situated on the Vatican Hill. Leaving the Piazza San Bernardo, adorned by Moses’ Fountain we will visit the Vatican Museums and the Vatican Galleries (lines possible at the entrance). There you will admire the modern entrance built for the Jubilee 2000, the Galleries of the Chandeliers, of the Tapestries and of the Geographical Maps, the Sobiesky Hall and the Immaculate Conception Hall. We will then stop to admire the Sistine Chapel, seat of the Conclave, with the famous frescoes of Michelangelo. Passing inside the Vatican Museums we will arrive into the Basilica of Saint Peter, commonly called Saint Peter’s Basilica, is one of four major basilicas of Rome. It is the most prominent building inside the Vatican City and built on the ruins of Old Saint Peter’s Basilica. After Basilica back to the Hotel Dinner & overnight in Rome.
ROME – CATACOMBS – TREVI FOUNTAIN
After Breakfast proceed to start our guided tour of visiting all the Major Churches in Rome Holy steps (Scala Santa)John the Lateran Cathedral,visit the basilica of Holy Cross in Jerusalem , and outside View of Colosseum. St. Paul’s Church. After lunch We will proceed to Trevi Fountain (If it is Working because now under renovation) where we will stop for a visit. Then we have Catacombs visit with Mass After tour you will have Dinner and Overnight at Rome.
ROME – ASSISI – ANCONA
After Breakfast, check out proceed to Assisi. You will have a Guided Tour of Assisi ,where our sightseeing includes visits to the Church of St. Clare which houses her incorrupt body. One of the chapels contains the crucifix that bowed its head and ordered St. Francis to “repair God’s Church.” Afterwards, we proceed to the Basilica of St. Francis, built in 1228 to house the Relics of the saint. The “upper” basilica houses beautiful frescoes of Giotto. Before leaving Assisi, we visit the Church of Santa Maria Degli Angeli, containing the famous Porziuncola. This very ancient chapel, venerated for an apparition of angels within it, was originally property of the Benedictines of Subasio. It was located on a piece of land known as the Portiuncula; this name became attached to the chapel. After a long period of abandonment, it was restored by St. Francis. Here, he was given a dear understanding of his vocation. He founded here the Order of Friars Minor (1209), “establishing here his home then Dinner and Overnight in Then proceed to Ancona port check in ferry to Split Croatia. SPLIT – MEDJUGORJE
Arrive Split port & Medjugorje. Medjugorje is a town located in the Herzegovina region of Bosnia and Herzegovina, around 25 km (16 miles) southwest of Mostar and close to the border of Croatia. The town is part of the municipality of Citluk. Since 1981, it has become a popular site of religious pilgrimage due to reports of apparitions of the Virgin Mary to six local Catholics. Check in Hotel. Lunch at Restaurant. Proceed to visit the church. The name Medjugorje literally means “between mountains”. At an altitude of 200 m (660 ft) above sea level it has a mild Mediterranean climate. The town consists of an ethnically homogeneous Croat population of over 4,000. The Catholic parish (local administrative and religious area) consists of five neighboring villages: Medjugorje, Bijakovici, Vionica, Miletina and Surmanci. Dinner at Restaurant. Overnight at hotel.
MEDJUGORJE – CRIKVENICA
Enjoy breakfast in Hotel. Free time to visit church. Lunch at Restaurant. Proceed to Crickvenica. Check in. Dinner & Overnight at hotel.
CRICKVENICA – PADUA – VENICE
After breakfast proceed to Padua then visit Shrine of St Anthony of Padua on your own and also celebrate Mass (to be confirmed on arrival) after lunch You will be transferred to Venice (Approx. 45 mins) where you will board a ferry and Transfer to Venice Islands. Tour will start at St Mark’s Square. Walking tour of the area between Piazza San Marco and the Rialto Bridge, passing through La Fenice Theatre, Scala del Bovolo, Ponte di Rialto. The visit does not include an explanation of the St. Mark’s square and then we proceed to Hotel. Dinner at Hotel and overnight in Venice.
MONTICHIARI – ENGEL BERG (SWITZERLAND)
Breakfast at hotel. Proceed to Montichiari, It was in the spring of 1947 that the Blessed Mother started appearing to nurse Pierina Gilli. She introduced herself as the “Mystical Rose” and requested that an hour of grace should be kept at noon on December 7th in all the Catholic Churches in the world. Pierina noticed that the Blessed Mother’s heart was pierced by three swords: the first sword meaning the unworthy celebration of Holy Mass and Communion unworthily received; the second sword meaning being unfaithful to, and giving up, the vocation as a priest or a religious; and the third sword meaning betrayal of the faith. She appeared a total of eleven times and asked for prayer, sacrifice and penance, and that the 13th day of each month be celebrated as a Marian Day, and that July 13th be celebrated each year in honor of the “Rosa Mystica”. Lunch at Restaurant Proceed to the country Switzerland. There is no substitute to Switzerland in the entire world neither in its beauty nor in its charm can be compared with any place on the earth. Shimmering glaciers, snowcapped mountains, gorgeous blue lakes, amazing views of the rolling hills, picturesque landscapes, lush meadows, beautiful villages and the glamorous cities are very enticing which leave you spell bound on your visit to this hill country transfer to Lucerne. Arrive Engelberg. Check in hotel. Dinner & overnight stay in Engelberg.
ENGELBERG – MT. TITLIS – DIJON
After breakfast, visit Mt. Titlis with Ice Flyer. At 10,000 feet, Mount Titlis, is Central Switzerland’s loftiest peak exuding a snow and ice spectacular aerial cable car that delivers awesome 360-degree panoramic views of the snow-covered valleys, glaciers, lakes, forests, and mountains in Switzerland. Lunch at Mt. Titlis. Proceed to Dijon. Arrive Hotel. Check in. Dinner & Overnight stay in Dijon.
DIJON – PARIS
After breakfast check out and proceed to Paris on arrival have Lunch then will have City tour of Paris drive past Champs Elysees, Arc de Triomphe, the Opera, Petit Palais and Grand Palais, Les Invalides and 3 Churches Notre Dame Cathedral, Miraculous Medal & St. Vincent Paul. Then Proceed to Seine Cruise and Visit Eiffel Tower 3rd level (Subject to availability) then check in to the Hotel. Dinner & Overnight in Paris.
PARIS – LOURDES
After Breakfast, We Proceed for a long drive to Lourdes (Approx. 10hrs) Lunch will be packed or en route. Upon arrival at Lourdes, Check into Hotel. You can go for the Candlelight Procession around 9pm. Dinner and Overnight at Lourdes.
After Breakfast , you will be given the full day free to spend on Religious Activities on your own. You can also attend mass at 8am in English at the Chapel. Following Mass, you can Visit the sites of Lourdes where, in 1858, Mary appeared to young Bernadette Soubirous. Also visit the Grotto, the spring, as well as the Basilica of St. Pius X, the Rosary Basilica and Bernadette’s home. Lunch will be at the Hotel. Dinner & Overnight in Lourdes.
LOURDES – SAN SEBASTIAN – SALAMANCA
Breakfast at hotel Check out, Proceed to San Sebastian. Visit the Basilica of Saint Mary of the Chorus, which is a baroque Roman Catholic parish church and minor basilica completed in 1774. It is in the “Parte Vieja” of the city of San Sebastian, Gipuzkoa, Basque Country, Spain. Lunch at Restaurant. Proceed to Salamanca. Check-in. Dinner & Overnight at hotel in Salamanca.
SALAMANCA – FATIMA
After breakfast proceed to Fatima. Visit Our Lady of Fatima church. The Blessed Virgin Mary appeared six times to three shepherd children near the town of Fatima between 13 May and 13 October 1917. The Blessed Virgin Mary is also referred as Our Lady of the Rosary/Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima. Check-in to hotel. Dinner & Overnight stay in Fatima.
FATIMA – AVILA – MADRID
Breakfast at hotel. Proceed to Avila, Lunch Enroute Visit Avila, Spain the best-preserved walled city in the world and home of St. Teresa of Avila who, with her spiritual director St. John of the Cross, reformed the Carmelite Order. We visit the Carmelite Monastery and the cell where St. Teresa lived and see relics of Teresa and St. John of the Cross. We’ll also tour the ancient city of Abila whose architecture and culture remain the same from centuries ago. After visit proceed to Madrid, Dinner and overnight at Hotel in Madrid.
DEPARTURE FROM MADRID
After breakfast drive to Madrid, proceed for an orientation tour in Madrid (if time permits). Later transfer to Madrid Airport for your onward Departure.
Arrive back in India, your Europe Pilgrimage Tour ends here with sweet memories.
